Do you have Dreadlocks that grow flat no matter what you do?
"Thats called "flapping." the looser-curled-almost/absolutely straight grades have more of a propensity towards this...but i have seen it on kinkier textures as well. this usually happens when newgrowth hasnt been m
aintained in a long time and the newgrowth takes on a flat "flap-like" shape. the whole lock can get like that if the locks are not regularly seperated, even if theyre not palmrolled or twisted. ive also seen flapping exacerbated by excessive hat-wearing on these same unseperated-at-the-root locks."

Ok, now I understand. So is there anyway to stop flapping or to counteract it?
"yes. seperating the locks after every shampoo (just gently pulling them away from each other at the rootbeds). the flaps start when newgrowth from neighboring locks creep together at the root and change the shape of the rootbed. " --Camille (loctician)
