actually the term dreadlocks does not start with white settlers. it actually is very religious because rastas grew their dreads to show their praise and  fear of god.  nothing to do with white ppl. white people just took it and ran with it cuz they dont know any better lol. but that was the original meaning of the term dreadlocks,  i know it's not detailed enough, but that;s where it really came from. i love it how people take it the wrong way and try to look down on other ppl for saying dreads or dreadlocks. lol

the term dreadlocks was created by jamaican whites to malign disenfranchised blacks.  their "dreadful" locks...dreadlocks.
