I know all the sisters (and some brothers) with relaxed hair are ready to have a fit right about now. Don't worry, I didn't forget about you. This isn't an anti-relaxer site. On the contrary, naani embraces all styles (minus the scary curl) even if some are better for the hair than others.

Now the natural folk are probably wondering why relaxed hair even needs a section since it's been around seemingly forever. Well I've found that although it's been around for a long time, it's ironic how little we know about them. Besides, no matter how popular naturals have become, there will still be those who NEED their lye.

In research I've found that much of the damage and breakage that occurs with relaxed hair is usually a result of user error. True, the chemicals themselves are harmful, but when used properly you can minimize the negative aspects and have considerably healthy hair (when compared to other relaxed hair). I've decided to discuss some of the more common ways that relaxers do damage to the hair and how you can avoid/minimize it.  But before we go there, let's discuss what it is that relaxers actually do.
