Dating and Relationships

My wife is horrible. I should have seen it even before we got married. We had what I thought was a fantastic relationship. We shared so much when we first met.

i'm currently in an interracial relationship and due to the nature of my profession, i invariably find myself discussing black hair.  where this doesn't seem like a big deal, it really is.

i mean, how do you go about telling someone who washes their hair every day or every other day that you wash your hair once a week?  from the outside looking in, i must appear filthy.  add to this that i have dreadlocks and lord, he probably thinks i have colonies of critters laying claim to different parts of my scalp.

DISCLAIMER! i try not to use "big" curse words when i post but i've decided to type liberally in this one so if i offend...hmm...ok. Previously on dRaMA (the interracial edition)...

i like a white boy.  white boy likes me.  dude's mom had commented that she wasn't too keen on his dating a black girl and therefore would need to pray about it.  she did and came to the conclusion that if it's what he wanted, she would have to be ok with it.

There’s nothing worse than seeing a grossly unattractive female who thinks too highly of herself.

Back in college when I spent my free time combing the stacks for books on race relations that hadn't been checked out for years, I could've never imagined that at age 30-something I'd be in a relationship with a White man. Now don't get me wrong, it's not that I've never dated outside my race. In the past, I've stumbled upon an outing with an non-Black fella or three but as I've gotten older, as the pickin's of single, relationship-minded, young Black males seems to be dwindling, I find myself being far more open to...whomever.

Black skin is thick and lush, sensuous to the touch, like satin and velvet made flesh. There's only one patch of skin on a white man's body that remotely compares to nearly every inch of a black man's skin. The first time I caressed black skin, it felt like a luxury I shouldn't be able to afford. I craved it more strongly than Carrie Bradshaw craved Manolo Blahnik shoes. That phrase, "Once you go black, you never go back" is all about the feeling of the skin.

Black women could find more partners across the race line—and it might just spur more black couples to wed

The public's outlook on socially and culturally sensitive issues such as interracial dating is changing with time. After the legalization of interracial marriages in 1967 to the current legalization of gay marriages, it is evident that, given time, society learns to accept change. Interracial dating and romance is more popular and is becoming well established throughout North American society. Interracial daters are generally contented with the knowledge that they can both maintain their own culture as well as learn another.

If you’ve never been into the bar scene, or have been into it for years and are watching younger and younger things walk through the door, and are ready for get serious about your future rela

When many women have decided to go natural after many years of wearing relaxed or permed hairstyles made the decision because they experienced too much hair breakage and damage from the strong n

President Obama's inauguration marked a proud day for many Americans. I, like most of the country if not the world, set captivated as the events of the day unfolded. Call me catty but in addition to the majesty, there were moments where I was prompted to grab my cell, dial my best friend and gossip. "Why is Jill Biden wearing bare-kneed boots?" I said. "My sister said the same thing. I don't have a problem with the boots, it's cold.  Her dress is too short to be wearing with those boots though," my friend replied.

I recently visited a male friend who has a pretty sarcastic/sick sense of humor...very similar to my own :-)  Over dinner we began discussing product naani product samples that I'd sent him to

Racial discrimination is a problem well known to the American society. Its continual presence is a barrier that has prevented the different races of this country from achieving harmony.

However, discrimination is not limited to those people of different backgrounds. Intraracial discrimination is, and always has been, a part of the American culture but no where is it more prevalent than in the black community.

The other day my boyfriend, who is melanin challenged, was speaking to his mother about me.  Although she was aware we were friends, you (and I for that matter), can imagine her surprise when

These days it seems like the relationships we have with the ones we love are so fragile, it hardly takes anything to shatter them. The list of possible relationship killers is a mile long, but really it's not so bad. Most of the biggest culprits are avoidable or fixable, and in the interest of helping you out with any relationship troubles you may be having, I'm going to list off the "Big 6."
