Natural Butters
Aloe Butter aids in rapid hydration of dry skin caused by eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, sun burn, wind burn, and general chapping. We use Aloe because it's and excellent moisturizer. It makes our products creamy and help hair and skin retain moisture.
Coffee Butter is produced by hydrogenating the cold pressed oil from roasted coffee beans. Coffee butter and oil are rich in phytosterols which promote moisture retention. We will be launching a new line of Coffee Based products in 2008!
Cocoa Butter is a traditional ingredient used throughout Africa for skin care. It is a soothing emollient to heal and moisturize skin. It improves skin's elasticity and helps reduce stretch marks during pregnancy. It is often used to minimize the appearance of scars and has excellent sheen. Cocoa Butter is a staple in many naani products due to its variety of benefits and uses.
Illipe Butter is very similar in nature to cocoa butter, but it has a higher melting point. It moisturizes skin and restores skin elasticity. We use this butter in many of our hair and scalp products to reduce the volume of beeswax as a stiffening agent.
Mango Butter offers excellent emolliency and sun protection. It prevents drying of the skin and formation of wrinkles by restorin elasticity. Mango butter is similar to Cocoa and we're increasing testing its properties to increase its use in our formulations.
Mowrah Butter prevents drying of skin, restores skin flexibility and is said to reduce the development of wrinkles.
Murumuru Butter is an excellent emollient. It helps skin retain water by creating a protective film and aids in promoting sheen and hydration and protection. We use Murumuru Butter because it's great for Afri-ethnic hair and skin. The Vitamin A content is found to be 50,000iu per 100 grams of pulp, three times higher than that of a carrot. In other words, it's better than carrot oil!
Shea Butter has many beneficial properties. It provides natural UV protection, is high in Vitamins A & E and is doctor recommended to soothe irritated skin and rash, heal scars and stretch marks and is often used to treat conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. Unlike other butters, shea is non-greasy so it won't clog pores. It's excellent for dry hands, rough feet and chapped lips.
Other Ingredients
Natural Beeswax is a terrifc emollient. We use it as a stabilizer in many o our products. It also works as a natural humectant and therefore helps hair and skin retain moistue.
